VIKING THE LAST KNIGHT® – SERIES
BOOK 1: VIKING, THE LAST KNIGHT
Holy Land, 13th Century
First novel in the eponymous Viking, The Last Knight Series.
Viking, The Last Knight takes you into a key moment in history; The Siege of Acre, which took place in 1291 and resulted in the loss of the city of Acre to the Christians. It is considered one of the most important battles of the period, and is often cited by historians as the event that marked the end of the Crusades. When Acre fell, the Crusaders lost their last major stronghold in the Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem. However, they still retained control of a fortress to the north in the city of Tartus (Syria), and made several coastal raids as well as an attempt at reconquest from the small island of Arwad, which they subsequently lost in 1302 at the Siege of Arwad. By this time, the Crusaders no longer held any land, cities or fortresses in the Holy Land.
Acre was one of the largest medieval battles in the Holy Land and one of the bloodiest. The end of the Crusaders’ dream.
Blood, fire and iron in an epic journey to adventure. This is the story of a northern boy, a descendant of the ancient Vikings and a desperate struggle for survival, between honour and faith.
When a vast and superior enemy surrounds the whitewashed walls of the last Christian stronghold in the Holy Land, there is no time to flee, and there is only one path to follow? Kill or be killed.
